JANAT Paris Brings Guinness-Record Tea and “Pomme d’Amour,” Japan’s No.1 French Apple Tea, to FOODEX 2026

-- Tokyo — At FOODEX Japan 2026, the French tea house Janat Paris will introduce visitors to a rare combination: the tea recognized by Guinness World Records™ as the world’s most expensive tea and one of Japan’s most popular French tea creations, “Pomme d’Amour.”

Founded in Paris in 1872, Janat Paris has built its reputation through a vertically integrated model linking tea cultivation in Sri Lanka to global distribution. The company works with a community of more than 9,000 women involved in tea harvesting and production, supporting sustainable agriculture while maintaining quality from plantation to cup.

The brand is also widely recognized for its “Lucky Tea” identity, symbolized by two wide-eyed black cats that have become a familiar emblem for tea lovers from France to Japan. Visitors to Janat stores often participate in the ritual of touching the cats for luck before enjoying their tea.

Alongside the Guinness-recognized tea, Janat Paris will highlight one of its best-known products in Japan: “Pomme d’Amour,” widely considered the No.1 French apple tea sold in the country. Inspired by the aroma of caramelized apples, the tea reflects the flavours of classic French pastry and recalls the story of the original tarte Tatin, the iconic upside-down apple tart created in France’s Loire Valley.

The Guinness-record tea itself was acquired in 2025 during an international tea auction held during Expo 2025 Osaka. Organized by the Sri Lanka Tea Board with the support of the Japan Tea Association, the auction gathered tea houses and collectors from around the world. Proceeds supported women-led farming communities in Sri Lanka.

The tea originates from Sapphire Valley, a rainforest highland region in Sri Lanka known for its preserved ecosystem and minimal environmental disturbance. The plantation emphasizes soil health, biodiversity, and careful harvesting methods designed to preserve the natural character of the tea.

At FOODEX Japan 2026, Janat Paris will present these teas through what the brand calls the “Lucky Tea Experience,” a presentation that explores the journey from plantation to cup while connecting tea culture with gastronomy, heritage, and storytelling.

The exhibition will take place March 10–13, where visitors will be able to discover both the Guinness-recognized tea and the “Pomme d’Amour” apple tea experience.
