Finding accommodations in New York City around the holidays can be difficult; guests who don’t book ahead are often left stranded or having to pay way more than they wanted to. With its recent announcement, the Historic Blue Moon Hotel is providing guests with affordable and convenient lodging options that are also rich in history and acclaim.

“At the Historic Blue Moon Hotel, we promise guests from around the world a hotel experience unlike any other,” said a spokesperson for the hotel. “We give them the ability to simultaneously lodge at our lovingly restored award-winning hotel while reveling in New York City’s vibrant and artsy contemporary culture.”

The Historic Blue Moon Hotel’s 22 bedrooms range in occupancy from 2 to 4 people. All of the rooms include period furniture, lavish bathrooms, and comfortable beds. Depending on the room, guests can get access to patios with panoramic views of the New York City skyline.

As far as amenities are concerned, each room comes with premium Wi-Fi, a large TV, a kitchenette stocked with utensils, an iron and ironing board, a mini-refrigerator, and eco-friendly shampoo and soaps. For guests who like to snack, the lobby of the hotel also has a 24/7 snack bar and the Sweet Dreams Café, a bakery selling fresh, handmade Italian delicacies.

Originally opened in 1879, the Historic Blue Moon Hotel served as tenement housing until 1930 when it was closed due to building code violations. In 2001, it came under the ownership of artist and real estate developer Randy Settenbrino, who led a massive restoration effort to get the building back to where it is today.

“In a world that is becoming more and more homogenized, we need more monuments like the Historic Blue Moon Hotel,” said a frequent guest of the hotel, Lori Mantrose Jackson. “Not only is it unique, but it allows us to step back in time; to touch and breathe in the experience of lives lived and lost—to imagine New York City in another state altogether, and through imagination, to become part of that experience.”
