BigCommerce Customers Around the World Named Finalists for MACH Impact Awards

Brands and retailers on BigCommerce’s platform are finalists in categories for retail, B2B and travel, tourism and hospitality, as well as a thought leader award

BigCommerce (Nasdaq: BIGC), an open SaaS, composable ecommerce platform for fast-growing and established B2C and B2B brand and retailers, today announced that four of its customers have been named finalists for the upcoming MACH Impact Awards, one of the premier award programs for headless and composable commerce projects.

“Composable commerce has emerged as a powerful – and increasingly the preferred – approach to future-proofing a brand’s tech stack to always be able to meet business needs and deliver incredible customer experiences,” said Meghan Stabler, senior vice president of marketing at BigCommerce. “BigCommerce’s open, flexible platform is an excellent foundation for composability, and our recent Catalyst storefront technology makes composable transformation projects even more accessible to brands and retailers. We are thrilled to see our customers being recognized for their innovative composable projects.”

BigCommerce customers named finalists include:

  • Best Retail Project - White Stuff

With BigCommerce providing the back-end commerce engine, Vue Storefront providing the headless storefront, Amplience serving as the CMS, Akeneo powering the PIM and Constructor handling search and product discovery, UK fashion and apparel brand White Stuff now boasts a highly composable tech stack that capitalizes on MACH Alliance principles and gives the brand the ability to integrate platform and platform data and then use that data to quickly pivot and adapt. The real winners are White Stuff’s customers because the company is now able to add new features that enrich the overall website experience.
  • Best Travel, Tourism and Hospitality Project - Mt. Hood Meadows

US ski resort Mt. Hood Meadows launched a new site built as a completely headless implementation with API integration to BigCommerce's ecommerce engine and Strapi's headless CMS, hosted entirely on Microsoft’s Azure cloud services. Resort-specific functionality is provided via API integration with Resort Technology Partners, a leading vendor for enterprise ski resort management. Microservices were created to provide real-time updates related to snow and weather conditions as well as integrations to third-party marketing platforms.
  • Best B2B Project - TradeTools

Australian tool and equipment supplier TradeTools launched a new website with a composable approach, enabled by MACH architecture. TradeTools’ pre-existing API structure with Take Flight streamlined its integration process with BigCommerce. TradeTools essentially switched its backend connection while keeping the frontend PWA intact, significantly reducing development time compared to a traditional approach where the entire website would have needed to be rewritten for a new backend. Beyond the initial migration speed, MACH architecture also offers greater flexibility. As TradeTools business grows and customer needs evolve, the company can easily add new functionalities through additional microservices or integrate with other best-of-breed solutions without affecting the entire system. This future-proofs the platform for ongoing innovation and scalability of the business.
  • MACH Contributor of the Year - Prasad Tangirala

Prasad Tangirala, vice president of ecommerce engineering at a large retailer, is an active evangelist for MACH concepts. A MACH Alliance ambassador, he has penned resource articles for the MACH website and serves as a frequent expert source on LinkedIn sessions and in industry media such as Digital Commerce 360, where he was featured prominently on composable commerce in their annual ecommerce industry report. He serves on the MACH Ambassador Advisory Panel where he helps grow the program and recruit new ambassadors.

Operated by the MACH Alliance, a group of independent tech companies dedicated to advocating for open, best-of-breed technology ecosystems, the MACH Impact Awards honor the most globally innovative and impactful technology projects that utilize a MACH (microservices-based, API-first, Cloud native SaaS, Headless) strategy. The awards were open to any business across the globe, including businesses who are not MACH Alliance members, and were eligible for submission from customers, vendors, system integrators or any others.

BigCommerce customer MKM Building Supplies won the award for Best B2B Project in last year’s MACH awards, and Bulk Nutrients was a finalist for Best Health/Pharma Project.

Winners will be announced on June 17, 2024, during MACH THREE, the alliance’s annual conference being held in New York City.
