Trek Bicycle and Liberty Tire Recycling Launch First of Its Kind Nationwide Bike Tire Recycling Program in U.S.

Today, Trek Bicycle and Liberty Tire Recycling announced the launch of an innovative bicycle tire recycling program across all Trek owned stores in North America. This initiative aims to provide cyclists with a free and responsible way to recycle their used bicycle tires.

Starting today, cyclists can bring their worn-out bicycle tires to a participating Trek store, where they will be collected and recycled at no cost to the consumer. This program addresses the growing concern of tire waste in landfills and its impact on the environment—and it helps to make cycling even more sustainable.

“We’re committed to running our business as sustainably as possible," said Trek Brand Director Andrew Dutton, "and that commitment goes beyond the sale. Joining this tire recycling effort lets us give riders an easy way to recycle their old bike tires responsibly—and we’re proud to be part of it.”

More than 50 million Americans bicycle at least once a year, and with cycling increasing in popularity Americans deserve a way to conveniently recycle their old bike tires. This initiative provides a convenient solution for cyclists and aligns with Trek and Liberty's commitment to environmental stewardship. By keeping tires out of landfills, the program aims to reduce pollution and promote sustainable practices within the cycling community.

“We believe that every tire has more than one life to live, and we are thrilled to expand that vision to bike tires through our partnership with Trek,” said Amy Brackin, Senior Vice President of Sustainability for Liberty Tire Recycling. “This partnership makes cycling an even more sustainable form of transportation and recreation.”

Liberty Tire Recycling handles the process, making sure every part of the tires is repurposed. The recycled materials are used in a variety of ways, including in landscaping, sustainable asphalt, tracks, fields, and more.

Interested cyclists can find their nearest participating Trek store here. In stores, cyclists can look for a "Retire Your Tires" box where they can easily drop off their tires. Trek encourages all riders to take advantage of this program as part of their commitment to sustainable cycling practices.
