Corgan’s Los Angeles Office Expands with Addition of Two Studio Leaders

Global architecture and design firm Corgan announces the appointment of two established California architects to its Los Angeles office; Kevin Tyrrell is joining as Education Studio Leader and Principal, along with Alexandria Hoevel as Multifamily Studio Leader and Vice President. Both bring decades of experience with deep local and regional market knowledge. They have a shared vision for innovation and excellence in the industry that will drive Corgan’s footprint in the education and multifamily practices in Southern California.

Tyrrell has over 35 years of experience in architecture and urban design, creating sustainable K-12 and higher-ed environments, and achieved LEED AP certification more than 25 years ago. He spent 20 years as a partner at QDG Architecture, where his leadership transformed the company’s education sector. Tyrrell has led projects that have achieved some of the highest industry benchmarks, completing over 3 million square feet of LEED certified construction. He has served on the Board of Friends of the Robert Redford Conservancy for Southern California Sustainability since 2016. Tyrrell is a member of the American Institute of Architects (AIA) California Urban Design Committee, and a signatory of US Architects Declare, a collective aiming to use the practice of architecture to realize climate justice and social equity. He earned a bachelor’s degree in architecture from the University of Southern California and a master’s degree in architecture and urban design from Columbia University.

Hoevel joins the firm with over 20 years of experience and brings extensive knowledge of multi-family developments, including mixed-use, market rate, affordable, modular and student housing projects. She also brings hospitality, institutional, and master planning experience to the growing Corgan team. Before joining Corgan, she was principal architect at Studio A, a firm she founded. As a native Angeleno, Hoevel has close ties to the community and has cultivated expertise while working at some of the region’s most distinguished architecture and urban design firms. She has fostered a rapport with distinct neighborhoods and urban centers and brings a solid network of clients with her to Corgan’s Los Angeles office. Hoevel is active in various organizations, notably the Urban Land Institute (ULI), Los Angeles Headquarters Association, Southern California Association of Non-Profit Housing. A member of AIA, she currently serves as co-chair of the AIA Los Angeles Women in Architecture Committee. She earned a Bachelor of Architecture from California State Polytechnic University, Pomona.

“Adding Kevin and Alexandria to our growing L.A. practice will enhance our capacity to deliver transformative, sustainable design solutions that reflect the energy of the region," said Lindsay Wilson, Corgan’s President and Interiors Sector Leader. “We continue to grow our studios by attracting talented team members that align with our values and are committed to great design and exceptional client service."
