Harbor Capital Advisors Expands ETF Suite with Corporate Culture Leaders Strategy

ETF Will Be Powered by Irrational Capital’s Human Capital Factor Scores

Harbor Capital Advisors, Inc. (“Harbor Capital”) today announced that it is adding to its exchange-traded fund (ETF) lineup by bringing a new Harbor Corporate Culture Leaders ETF (HAPY) to market in early February, upon completion of the registration process. This offering is in addition to the two fixed-income ETFs (SIFI, SIHY) that were launched this fall, the Disruptive Innovation ETF (INNO) launched in December, and the All-Weather Inflation Focus ETF (HGER) and Long-Term Growers ETF (WINN) launching in February 2022. Along with ETFs, Harbor Capital offers a curated experience of mutual funds and collective investment trusts (CITs).

Harbor Corporate Culture Leaders ETF – The Fund seeks to provide investment results that correspond, before fees and expenses, to the performance of the Human Capital Factor Unconstrained Index (the “Index”).

The Index is designed to deliver exposure to equity securities of large cap U.S. companies that demonstrate high employee engagement and motivation, based on human capital scores produced by Irrational Capital LLC. Co-founded by world-renowned behavioral scientist Dan Ariely, Irrational Capital is an investment research and development firm that applies workplace behavioral science, financial acumen, and data science to capture the powerful connection between human capital and financial outcomes.

“We’re thrilled to partner with the entire team at Irrational Capital, and particularly Dan Ariely, with the creation of the Harbor Corporate Culture Leaders ETF,” said Kristof Gleich, President & CIO, Harbor Capital. “Dan is a world-class behavioral scientist and a recognized leader in the field of motivation in the workplace. By partnering with Irrational Capital, investors will have an option to seek to capture the positive effect of businesses that successfully manage their most important asset – their people. Human Capital Investing is a new field of investing allowing us to target businesses with superior cultures driven by highly motivated employees. We would also like to congratulate the CEOs and wider leadership teams of all the members of our Corporate Culture Leaders ETF for creating cultures of inclusion and inspiring their people to do more, each and every day,” said Gleich.

“We believe we are the first firm to quantitatively capture the lift that strong corporate culture has on a company’s stock price in an investable way,” said Ariely. “By uncovering the capital in human capital, we help create investment options that seek to prove that doing the right thing pays. We are delighted to partner with Harbor Capital in offering investors access to the power of human capital.”
