Entergy Arkansas and ITC File Transaction in Missouri
Entergy Arkansas and affiliates of ITC Holdings Corp. filed a joint application on Thursday with the Missouri Public Service Commission that addresses the companies plan to spin off and merge Entergy transmission assets located in Missouri.
While Entergy Arkansas serves no retail customers in Missouri, the company owns about 90 miles of transmission and other facilities that are used to furnish wholesale electric service to various cities and electric cooperatives in the state. The facilities are located in Dunklin, New Madrid, Oregon, Pemiscot and Taney counties.
Filings regarding the transmission spin/merge have been made in Louisiana, New Orleans, Arkansas, Mississippi, and with the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission. A filing with the Public Utility Commission of Texas will be made in early 2013.
The Missouri application states that the independent transmission company business model proposed by the Entergy operating companies and ITC will yield greater financial strength and flexibility to finance maintenance and improvements to the grid.
