Morgan Stanley Appoints Alexandre Falcao to Latin America Equities Research Team

Morgan Stanley today announced the appointment of Alexandre Falcao to the Firms Latin America Equities Research team, where he will lead the groups mid- and small-cap company coverage effort across a variety of sectors including food, healthcare and education. Mr. Falcao, 29, joins the Firm after recently being named Institutional Investors #1 analyst for Brazil small-cap company research in 2007. He will be based in Sao Paolo and report to Dario Lizzano, Morgan Stanleys New York-based Head of Research and Sales for Latin America.

Mr. Falcaos appointment serves as a complement to the comprehensive research coverage that Morgan Stanley already maintains with respect to Latin American large-cap companies, and forms part of the Firms strategic priority that was initiated in mid-2007 to add key hires in Latin American sales and research.

Mr. Lizzano said, Alex is a seasoned analyst whose impressive track record and varied sector knowledge will enhance our ability to deliver market-leading products to our Latin American clients. The expansion of our research platform to incorporate his expertise within the mid- and small-cap company space further underscores Morgan Stanleys commitment to the region, and I am pleased to have Alex on our team as we continue to seek opportunistic areas to grow our franchise.

Mr. Falcao comes to Morgan Stanley from Merrill Lynch, where he was a Senior Analyst of Mid-Small Caps for Latin America. In that capacity, he was responsible for covering the transportation, infrastructure, logistics, technology, tobacco, healthcare, education, food and industrials sectors within the region. Previously, Mr. Falcao was a Senior Analyst at Banco Itau covering the Latin American consumer sector, including retail, food and beverage, cosmetics, tobacco, and e-commerce. Prior to that position, he covered the Latin American telecommunications industry as an Analyst at both Banco Itau and BBA Creditanstalt. Mr. Falcao received a B.S. in mechanical engineering from the Universidade de Sao Paolo.
