Morgan Stanley Prime Brokerage Hires David Barrett

Morgan Stanley (NYSE:MS) announced today that David Barrett will rejoin the Firms Prime Brokerage group as a Managing Director and Head of Hedge Fund Strategic Consulting. In this new position, Mr. Barrett, 48, will lead the effort to deliver prime brokerage solutions to the Firms largest hedge fund clients. He will be based in New York.

Mr. Barrett rejoins Morgan Stanley from Merrill Lynch where he had held several positions in the firms hedge fund businesses over the past four years. Most recently, he was a member of the management team of the Structured and Alternatives Investment group, responsible for institutional distribution. Previously, he served as the Global Head of Hedge Fund Origination, the team that sourced hedge funds for Merrill's distribution platforms. Prior to Merrill Lynch, Mr. Barrett spent 18 years at Morgan Stanley in various roles, including Government Relations, Fixed Income and seven years as a senior member of Prime Brokerage.
