Pipeline Health Hires New CEO at West Suburban Medical Center & Promotes CFO to CEO at Weiss Memorial Hospital, in Chicago Market

CHICAGO - December 1, 2020 - (Newswire.com)

Pipeline Health has announced the promotion and hire of two new chief executive officers at Weiss Memorial Hospital in Chicago and West Suburban Medical Center in Oak Park, Illinois.

Pipeline Health is a privately-held, community-based hospital ownership and management company based in Los Angeles and specializes in clinical medicine, finance, hospital operations, and acquisitions.

Weiss Memorial Hospital: Irene Dumanis has been promoted to the CEO position after 18 months as CFO of the Chicago market, which includes both hospitals as well as the Chicago Physician Group. She brings 15 years of healthcare experience to the organization and in her new role will continue to bring more stabilization and cost efficiency tactics to the job.

“Our Chicago community-based hospitals are integral parts of the Uptown and Oak Park neighborhoods, and we at Pipeline are completely confident that both Irene and Barbara Martin, who will lead West Suburban, will thrive in their new roles. We always want to consider internal candidates for any position, so we’re very happy to be able to promote Irene,” said Jim Edwards, Pipeline Health CEO.

“I am excited to continue to be a part of the Weiss family in this new role and lead the charge alongside the rest of our medical staff in combating this pandemic. Local hospitals such as ours act as a backbone within the community during a crisis like this, and I’m pleased we can be a reliable source of comfort and healing right now,” said Dumanis.

West Suburban Medical Center: Pipeline Health is pleased to welcome Barbara Martin into the role of CEO at West Suburban Medical Center and River Forest Medical Campus. She brings with her 25 years of experience in executive leadership and most recently, was the CEO at Vista Health System. Barb has strategically led both not-for-profit and for-profit hospitals through various growth and transformational efforts including refining service lines, streamlining operations, and improving financial performance. She also has a strong nursing and clinical background.

“I am honored to bring my deep experience within community hospital systems to West Suburban Medical Center. As we’re all going through a once-in-a-century pandemic together, I understand the fear and uncertainty members of our community, as well as our employees, are feeling right now. I’m humbled to start this new role with the trust of the medical staff and Pipeline’s leadership to face this enormous challenge head-on,” said Martin.

“In this environment right now, it’s crucial to have hospital leadership that also understands what’s happening at the clinical level and Barbara thoroughly checks that box. We’re fortunate to have been able to attract this kind of talent to lead us through the pandemic as well as the normal challenges a hospital like West Suburban faces on a daily basis,” said Mark R. Bell, MD, FACEP, President of Pipeline Health.
