Freestpaul: Getting to know us.

If you are asked to list out the twelve disciples of Jesus, if you’re a newbie in Christianity, you’d almost be tempted to include Paul! Of course, Paul was never mentioned throughout the synoptic Gospels that gave account of Jesus’ evangelical mission on earth. He was never a discipline of Jesus when Christ was on earth. But his name is a strong pillar in Christianity today.

There’s a huge history of reasons behind this. We will try summarizing it here. The brief history of Paul you’ll be reading here will let you know more about us. So, get your attention gig set up. It’s time to learn. Ready? Let’s go!

The Early church: Less Persecution.

After the start of the early church. The power of God was vibrant and evident in the church, and the world could not deny it. Apostle Peter was so powerful his shadow healed the sick. Amazing miracles and wonders were done through the apostles in the church. And God added to their number everyday.

The believers were all gathered in one place in Jerusalem. They worshiped God in oneness of heart and spirit. They shared everything in common. They lived a happy fellowship life, andall filled with the joy of the Lord.

The Early church: Hot Persecution.

Then the severe days of persecution arose. The early church was faced by hot persecution from jealous and fanatic religious leaders. On different occasions, the apostles and many followersof Christ were arrested and locked up in prison. Some were killed.

So severe was the temptation that the believers were forced to disperse from Jerusalem to other regions. Majority of the believers, except for the twelve Apostles who remained in Jerusalem, scattered to different regions. And wherever they found themselves, they preached the gospel.

The persecution became severe everyday. And the leading figure of the ardent persecutors of the church was Saul. Saul was such a zealous Pharisee that he took it as a point of duty to throw the church out the window of existence. He was determined!

The great conversion: Saul to Paul.

Saul was heading down to Damascus to arrest and lock up prisoners when he encountered Christ. That one encounter on the road to Damascus changed his life forever. The change started with the conversion of his name from Saul to Paul.

After the conversion and baptism of Paul into Christianity, he devoted his entire life into the full work of evangelism. Just as Apostle Peter was for the Jews, Apostle Paul was the spirit-ordained Apostle of the gentiles.

St Paul arrested, help us Free him!

Apostle Paul worked zealously than any other apostle. He travelled far and wide. He preached the gospel throughout the whole eastern region of Roman Empire. He preached the good news of the coming of Jesus Christ again, alongside the peaceful reign of God’s kingdom and power over the earth.

St Paul never had it smooth. He was severely persecuted. Finally, he has been arrested now. We are counting on you to help us free St Paul!
