Morgan Stanley Private Equity Continues to Build Global Team

Morgan Stanley announced today that Andy Shinn and Aaron Sack have joined as Executive Directors in Morgan Stanley Private Equity, the Firm's global private equity business. Mr. Shinn, who joined from The Carlyle Group where he recently led the acquisition of Home Depot Supply Inc. prior to his departure, and Mr. Sack, who joined from Apollo Advisors, are based in New York.

Morgan Stanley Private Equity has grown its team of senior professionals since naming Global Co-heads Steve Trevor and Alan Jones at the end of 2006. European Co-heads Brian Magnus and Graham Keniston-Cooper were named in the summer of 2007; and Managing Directors Eric Fry, Michael Hehn, and Operating Partner and Managing Director Gary Matthews were announced in the fall of 2007. Today, Morgan Stanley Private Equity has offices in New York, London, Hong Kong, Seoul and Tokyo and invests in large and middle-market private equity transactions globally on behalf of its clients.

Mr. Shinn joined The Carlyle Group in 1998 and was involved in transactions in a wide range of industries including financial services, aerospace/defense, industrial and consumer/retail in the United States and Asia. Mr. Shinn served on the Board of Directors of Standard Aero Holdings Inc. and on the Executive Management Committee to the Board of Directors of KorAm Bank. He recently led the acquisition of Home Depot Supply Inc. for The Carlyle Group prior to his recent departure. He began his career at Kidder Peabody & Co./PaineWebber in 1995. Mr. Shinn is an active supporter of local charities, particularly supporting education and the Presbyterian Church. Mr. Shinn graduated cum laude from the University of Colorado.

Mr. Sack joined Apollo Investment Management L.P. in 2005 where he was involved in making equity and debt investments in various industries including industrial, consumer and hospitality. Prior to joining Apollo, Mr. Sack was a vice president in Goldman Sachs Principal Investment Area concentrating on private equity investments in industrial and natural resources companies. Mr. Sack joined Goldman Sachs in 2000 in the Mergers & Acquisitions group. He graduated magna cum laude from Dartmouth College, was a Fulbright Scholar, and received an M.B.A. from the University of Pennsylvania's Wharton School.
