If you want to heal yourself after a body piercing then there are a couple of things that you can do. Of course, if you are yet to have your piercing done then one thing that you can do is have your piercing done by a professional. You also have to make sure that you ask for a hollow point needle piercing as well, as these are much easier to use and they will enable the tissue around your skin to heal much better.

Leave In the Post

It’s so important that you leave the post in your piercing. You need to do this until it has healed, because if you take the post out then this will only open you up to new infections and this is the last thing that you need. If you are having your ears pierced then this will only take around 8 weeks, and at this point you need to wear your earring as this will help you to stop any painful swelling or healing. Places like the belly button will take much longer to heal so it helps to talk with your piercer to see if they can help you with this.

Clean the Piercing

It’s also super important that you take the time to clean your piercing on a regular basis. This is essential as it helps you to avoid infection and it also helps to have some cotton swabs as well, if you have some mild antibacterial soap then this will really help you out. If you really want to prevent infection then sea salt will help and you can mix this in with the soap if you want.

Soaking the Piercing

It helps to soak your piercing in a saline solution. You can mix a few tablespoons of sea salt in a bowl of water. This will help to draw out any infected fluids and it will also really help you to sooth irritation as well.
