401(k) Champion® Award Seeks Applications

First award of its kind given to individuals who demonstrate the importance of retirement saving --
Application Deadline: February 14, 2020

STAMFORD, CT, January 24, 2020 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Applications are now open for the second annual 401(k) Champion® Award, honoring individuals who advocate for the importance of retirement saving and help others optimize their 401(k) plans. Sponsored by Jackson, Grant Investment Advisers, Inc. and its founder, Julie Jason, three $1,000 prizes will be awarded to 401(k) participants who complete an application and essay about their 401(k) experiences. Applicants can visit here to apply.

Said financial literacy proponent, Julie Jason, "The stories we hear from 401(k) Champions demonstrate the power of mentorship in saving for retirement. Let's face it: it takes initiative and perseverance to learn how to optimize 401(k) opportunities. Drawing attention to the successful individuals who motivate others helps engage the public to recognize the importance of saving for retirement."

Jackson, Grant launched the awards in 2018 after recognizing there was a general lack of awareness surrounding the importance of saving for retirement and, within the 401(k) space, no award focused just on participants. The first year's applicants confirmed the critical role mentors play in helping participants achieve success.

"A 401(k) Champion® leads by example and can make a difference," said Jason. "A peer-to-peer message is more powerful than reading a brochure, attending an employee enrollment session or trying to navigate an online tool."

Last year's entrants told stories of the people who helped them start saving, the smart moves they made and the steps they took to help improve their 401(k) plans. Last year's 401(k) Champions® can be found at 401kchampion.com.

Calling all plan sponsors

Identifying and raising awareness of successful participants can help others learn about and maximize a company's retirement benefit.

"People need to learn that investing for retirement is manageable; in fact, there is no better way to do so than in a matched 401(k)," said Jason. "Many can be inspired by their peers to get started early and, without making a significant sacrifice, begin building a secure future. Plan sponsors can harness 401(k) Champions' powerful stories to help encourage participation and help their employees maximize this important benefit."

Apply for the 401(k) Champion® Award

About the 401(k) Champion® Award

Three Champions will receive cash awards of $1,000 each in April based on an essay submitted online. The judges will consider applicants' answers to these questions 1) If you were to advise co-workers on why they should participate in (and/or maximize) their 401(k)s, what would you say? 2) If you were to be named as a 401(k) Champion®, what would you be willing to do to inspire non-participants to participate in the 401(k)?

The award is open to all ages 21 or older who currently participate in their 401(k)s. The deadline to submit applications is Feb. 14. Visit link to apply.
