Larson Electronics, a Texas-based company with over 40 years of experience spearheading the industrial lighting and equipment sectors, announced the release of a power distribution substation that converts 480V AC three-phase electrical current into single-phase 120/240V AC. This system provides operators the ability to safely tap into and distribute 480V AC power from generators and direct grid power. This unit gives operators the ability to power their 240V and 120V equipment from a single system.
The MPD-480-75-300MB-120.240 power distribution substation features a primary side where operators can connect 480V line-in power via a 20-foot SOOW cord and a secondary side allowing operators to power 240V and 120V equipment via their own outlets. A 20-foot SOOW line-in cord brings in480V three-phase power to the NEMA 3R 200-amp, 480V three-phase primary disconnect, which features two 200-amp time delay fuses protecting the 75 kVA transformer.
Larson Electronics’ power distribution system features a secondary side that feeds a NEMA 3R 300-amp, 120/240V AC single-phase MCB panel, which provides spaces for operators to insert their own outlets to power 240V and 120V equipment. The transformer and load assembly are mounted on a 3/16-inch thick carbon steel mounting platform and a load center/distribution assembly that is mounted to a 2-inch by 2-inch by 1/8-inch square carbon steel tubing frame. The transformer is grounded to the frame via a grounding lug that is provided. Suitable applications include construction sites, plant maintenance and turnarounds, and more.
