New Release Makes Microsoft Outlook Email Encryption Easier

Businesses are required to encrypt emails and attachments containing client's personal information such as health records, tax data, financial details, or insurance information to satisfy regulatory requirements related to data loss prevention. Using Outlook to encrypt emails remained difficult and error prone. Clients and customers often complain about issues in opening the encrypted email to access their data.

The newly released Encyro Outlook Addin (free) makes business email encryption, for both the message content and attachments, super easy for senders and receivers. Unlike some of the previously available add-ins that required creating special links to send attachments and then inserting those links in the email message, the Encyro addin lets you compose an email and add attachments as usual in Outlook. Then you click the secure-send button and the addin automatically handles encryption for both the email content and attachments. Recipients receive your encrypted message with a single click, without using Outlook or the Encyro Addin.

While Outlook email encryption addins have existed in the past, most of them had severe limitations. Some only encrypted the outgoing email but saved sensitive data without encryption to email folders such as the sent-mail folder. From here, the data ended up synchronized with email servers and all your mobile devices used to access email. Many email servers do not encrypt the stored email data to enable search over emails and to show advertisements based on email content. Storing sensitive data unintentionally on mobile devices increases business risk because mobile device theft is the single largest cause of data breaches.

The new release by Encyro Inc also takes advantage of advances in cloud security. Several previously designed Outlook encryption addins relied on zero-knowledge encryption for security. However, this meant that the encrypted messages were only accessible within the addin and not from another device if the user was away from their computer with the addin installed. The new Encyro addin fixes this issue by providing a secure cloud service to access the secure messages outside of the addin from any Internet connected device.

The new addin also supports multiple email accounts within Outlook and provides encrypted data backup at multiple data centers separated by hundreds of miles for meeting data resilience and integrity requirements, that are part of regulations such as the HIPAA HITECH and FINRA data privacy rules.

Encyro Inc has released additional information about the newly released Outlook email encryption addin at https://apps.encyro.com. The add-in is available free of cost and works with most email providers including G-Suite, Office 365, Exchange, Gmail, Yahoo! Mail, IMAP/POP based email accounts, and any business or consumer email service that works with Outlook.
