A majority of small-business owners think a recession is coming: Survey

A narrow majority (53 percent) of small-business owners expect a recession within a year, according to the latest quarterly CNBC/SurveyMonkey Small Business Survey. Main Street business sentiment is not dire, but it is declining from record levels. Fewer entrepreneurs describe business conditions as good, less expect an increase in revenue or to hire more employees. Small-business sentiment peaked in the third quarter of 2018, just like the stock market.
