Mesa, AZ (October 19, 2018) – Dr. Thomas Lodi, founder of integrative cancer care center An Oasis of Healing, is weighing in on a recent study reported by ASCO Post—the print and digital newspaper arm of the American Society of Clinical Oncology.

The study, conducted by professional healthcare network Doximity, revealed an estimated shortage of 2,200 oncologists by 2025. The top 10 metropolitan areas likely to be most affected by this are Miami, Tampa and North Port in Florida; Virginia Beach; Washington, D.C.; Tucson, Arizona; Las Vegas, Nevada; New Orleans; Raleigh, North Carolina; and Providence, Rhode Island.

An aging workforce was pinpointed as one of the main factors in this foreseen shortage. The same study also found a “nearly a two-fold variation in breast cancer rates across metros.”

Changing the way, we view diseases

Dr. Lodi, a renowned integrative oncology cancer care expert, shared his views on the study. In a blog post entitled ‘A Shortage of Oncologists and Why That’s Not A Bad Thing’, Dr. Lodi noted how the concept of disease has been ingrained in people from the day they are born. From regular check-ups to health insurance, people have been conditioned to expect diseases.

“One of the greatest lies ever perpetrated upon the human race is that health is impossible, and disease is inevitable,” he said. “Our lives are centered on being sick. It is a vicious cycle.”

Dr. Lodi explained that our propensity to sickness is due to the “artificial environments” we’ve built; instead of embracing that we are part of nature. Cancer cells are a perfect example of how healthy cells adapted to a situation where their fundamental modality of producing energy in order to function has been damaged significantly. What happens next is a “war” that takes place in the body of the patient, thus creating more damage.

He added, “We should focus our efforts on harnessing our bodies’ natural healing abilities so in the near future, we no longer have to train more oncologists. Let us work on a future where oncologists are no longer necessary, so these brilliant minds can instead become true practitioners of health.”

For over two decades now, Dr. Lodi has been helping cancer patients reclaim their birth right to health through a comprehensive cancer care program anchored on integrative oncology. Find out more about at it anoasisofhealing.com or view Dr. Thomas Lodi’s full Bio.
