CrossFields Interiors & Architecture has completed a remodel for Spa Matrix, a wellness and aesthetics facility in Fayetteville, Georgia. The project transformed a 3,396 net square foot space into a multi-service spa, marking the transition of owner Majidah Muhammad from a home-based operation to her first commercial location. This development supports a range of treatments including oxygen renewal, LED renewal, microderm renewal, advanced skin rejuvenation, aerolase laser treatments, skin tightening, CLAS therapy involving color, light, aromatherapy and sound, cryobody body sculpting, halo sauna, pressotherapy IR, red light full body treatment, body massage, and weekend yoga.
The remodel addressed key challenges in establishing a commercial spa that balances clinical credibility with a serene atmosphere. The owner aimed to find a building suitable for multiple service modalities while allowing room for future growth. The design ensures operational efficiency and a polished guest experience through a layout that facilitates smooth movement for both guests and staff. The two-level structure separates functions, with the main level featuring a sophisticated entry, branded feature wall, signage, and refined front desk. Treatment rooms for facials, lashes, and specialties incorporate calming finishes, warm lighting, and integrated storage to maintain organization.

Upper-level areas house yoga sessions and a staff breakroom, kept distinct from guest zones to preserve tranquility. The overall plan optimizes workflow, with flexibility built in for expansion. Property vetting and strategic planning played roles in selecting the site, ensuring the space meets current needs while accommodating potential increases in services or volume. The project involved determining space and vision requirements, space planning schematic design, full architectural and interior design from grey box, construction documents, finishes and furnishing selections, creation of a permit drawing package, and full-service construction through completion.
This initiative reflects trends in holistic health environments where multifunctional spaces support diverse therapies. The design draws on principles that enhance guest journeys, from initial entry to treatment completion, while supporting staff operations. Elements like the branded feature wall and integrated storage contribute to a professional setting that aligns with the spa's offerings in rejuvenation and wellness.
As providers of interior design for medical offices, CrossFields Interiors & Architecture tailors environments to various holistic health providers. The firm applies its Signature 06 Steps process—encompassing discovery, exploration, creation, selection, documentation, and design assurance—to guide projects from concept to realization. This method ensures decisions align with client goals, such as creating spaces that foster credibility and growth in competitive fields.
Scott Boldt, President of CrossFields Interiors & Architecture, addressed the project's emphasis on adaptability. "The Spa Matrix remodel illustrates how strategic layouts can support multiple modalities while preparing for future expansion," Boldt said. "By separating guest and staff areas across levels, the design maintains efficiency and serenity in a growing practice."
Carolyn Boldt, Vice President and Director of Design at CrossFields Interiors & Architecture, discussed the integration of calming elements. "Incorporating warm lighting and integrated storage in treatment rooms helps create an environment that balances clinical needs with spa-like comfort," Boldt stated. "Such features contribute to a guest experience that aligns with therapies focused on rejuvenation and holistic care."
The completed space positions Spa Matrix for sustained operations, with a scalable setup that handles current services and anticipates additions. The transition to a commercial facility enhances the practice's ability to deliver treatments in a dedicated environment, improving overall functionality. Feedback from the owner highlights the role of design expertise in achieving the final result, with Majidah Muhammad noting the space's beauty and the support received during the process.
