Man Tampers With Town’s Water Line, Contaminates Drinking Water with Chlorine

By: NewsUSA

(NewsUSA) -

A former water department employee in Stoughton named Robert J. Bullock Sr. allegedly contaminated the town's drinking water supply in 2022. Because he tampered with the water line, Bullock released chlorine into the town's drinking supply. He was said to have given false accounts to authorities when questioned.

Chlorine is considered a lower-profile drinking water contaminant compared to heavy metals. Some purifying stations use very diluted chlorine to kill harmful microorganisms in water. However, drinking chlorine-laced water can have long-term effects on one's health such as congenital abnormalities and asthma symptoms.

There are currently no reports that Bullock's tampering with the water line led to health issues among the townspeople.
