J.M. Huber Corporation Donates $500,000 to Gary Sinise Foundation to Support Empowerment Workshops & Expand Its Support of US Veterans, Heroes and First Responders & Their Families

--News Direct--

J.M. Huber Corporation (Huber), one of the largest family-owned companies based in the United States, announced today that it has donated $500,000 to the Gary Sinise Foundation (GSF) to fund their Empowerment Workshops program for surviving spouses and children of fallen soldiers.

The donated funds will go towards GSF’s Snowball Express initiative, which is committed to year-round programming and support for families that honors their fallen hero, encourages them to make new memories, and provides opportunities to connect with others who know what they’ve been through. Snowball Express Empowerment Workshops are three-day retreats where surviving spouses and young adults come together to bond and learn about self-awareness and effective communication methods to lead empowering lives.

One workshop attendee, Antoinette, reflected on her recent experience by saying, “The Gary Sinise Empowerment Workshop gave me the opportunity and support to dream again. It opened a part of me that had been tucked away, afraid to dream. Now I know that I can soar and go after those dreams. Thank you for providing a safe place to share my deepest feelings.”

These activities help participants, like Antoinette, look more closely at their lives after loss and tap into their resiliency to move forward.

Huber has supported GSF’s R.I.S.E. program, which builds custom-built, specially adapted, mortgage free smart homes for US wounded warriors to help them regain their freedom and independence, since 2018 with donated Huber Engineered Woods products and financial contributions. This new level of support will expand their impact to focus on the relief and resiliency of the families of the fallen, which aligns with one of the areas of focus for Huber Helps—Wellness. Since supporting GSF seven years ago, Huber has donated $875,000 to the Foundation and nearly $800,000 worth of Huber Engineered Woods products to the R.I.S.E program.

“Supporting the healing and empowerment journey of those who have lost a loved one in the service of our nation aligns with our Company’s core values, particularly that of Respect for People, and helps to build stronger families and communities,” said Lea Volpe, Vice President of Communications & Community Relations for Huber. “Funding this unique GSF program reflects the immense pride our employees feel to recognize and help Gold Star and first responder families in need.”

“We are so grateful to Huber for expanding its support of the Gary Sinise Foundation and for everything they do for all our veterans, heroes, defenders and first responders, and their families who sacrifice so much,” said Donna Palmer, Executive Director of the Gary Sinise Foundation. “Thanks to amazing corporate partners like Huber, we are able to further enhance our mission of serving and honoring the men and women on the front lines of our communities and our country.”

The Gary Sinise Foundation was established under the philanthropic direction of award-winning actor and humanitarian Gary Sinise, who has been an advocate of our nation’s defenders for nearly 40 years. The Gary Sinise Foundation’s mission is to serve our country by honoring our defenders, veterans, first responders, their families, and those in need. The Foundation’s four programmatic pillars are our way of “doing a little more” for those who sacrifice so much for our country. As our Founder and Chairman Gary Sinise always says, “While we can never do enough for our defenders and their loved ones, we can always do a little more.” That spirit of service is the bedrock of all of the Foundation’s programs, which include R.I.S.E.
