The Northeast Power Coordinating Council, Inc. (NPCC) has appointed three new members to its board of directors.
“The addition of Wendy Thomas, Carol Martucci, and Deidre Altobell to the NPCC Board of Directors reflects our ongoing commitment to strong leadership and collaboration to support our vision of a highly reliable and secure Bulk Power System across Northeastern North America,” said Charles Dickerson, NPCC President and Chief Executive Officer. “Their deep industry knowledge and contributions will strengthen NPCC’s capacity to address evolving challenges and effectively reduce risks to critical energy infrastructure in the region.”
Wendy K. Thomas is a dedicated and innovative executive with over 25 years of leadership in cybersecurity, telecommunications, and fintech. In her most recent role, she served as CEO of Secureworks, after spending more than a decade spearheading the company’s transformation from pure-play services to an artificial intelligence-driven cybersecurity platform. This successful evolution culminated in Secureworks’ recent acquisition by Sophos.
Ms. Thomas is a sought-after speaker, regularly appearing on panels to discuss global security trends and emerging technology. She has also served on several boards, including Marqeta, a leading fintech company, as well as the Technology Association of Georgia, the Metro Atlanta Chamber, and the Woodruff Arts Center. Ms. Thomas earned an international master’s in business administration from the University of South Carolina and a dual degree in economics and foreign affairs from the University of Virginia.
Ms. Thomas’ term begins in January 2026.
Carol Martucci is the Director of Financial Reporting and Corporate Technology at Massachusetts Municipal Wholesale Electric Company (MMWEC). She manages strategic development initiatives that include reporting, automation, and dissemination of real-time information to municipal light departments across Massachusetts. These initiatives help address evolving customer needs. Through her role, Ms. Martucci helps to advance the reliability and affordability of the municipal rate base, broaden MMWEC’s service offerings, and develop mission-driven programs that connect people, processes, and innovation.
Ms. Martucci also leads organizational projects that support fiscal transparency, enterprise risk management, prudent financial planning, and maximization of market value through effective market participation. She collaborates with MMWEC senior leadership to oversee power resources in the New England Market, from power purchase and bi-lateral agreements to direct ownership of various fossil fuel, nuclear, hydro, solar, storage, and wind resources. Prior to her 16-year tenure at MMWEC, Ms. Martucci worked in public accounting for multiple CPA firms, including PricewaterhouseCoopers.
Deidre Altobell currently serves on the Executive Committee of New York State Reliability Council (NYSRC). She has over 35 years of industry experience, which includes pivotal roles in managing electricity supply, resource planning, transmission system planning, energy policies, and effective stakeholder engagement with regulators and industry groups. Her contributions to regulatory policy and market design have ensured the compatibility of bulk electric system reliability with evolving market structures that support a competitive environment while promoting operational excellence. Notably, she has served in multiple leadership roles within the New York Independent System Operator (NYISO) stakeholder committees including Chairperson of the NYISO Management Committee.
Ms. Altobell is also Chief Engineer of Transmission Planning at Consolidated Edison of New York, where she is responsible for designing the necessary transmission infrastructure to reliably transition New York City to a clean energy future. She leads an engineering team that conducts transmission security studies, develops infrastructure solutions, oversees interconnections, and ensures compliance with the North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC), NPCC, and NYSRC reliability rules, directly influencing the company’s strategic direction. Ms. Altobell is a graduate of Columbia University where she earned a bachelor's degree in engineering.
