Kline Galland Announces New Name of Benaroya Community Services Program

Offerings will address the increased need for community-based services in senior health care

Today Kline Galland, a non-profit senior care organization, unveiled the new name for its community-based services program, which offers home health, home care, hospice and palliative care to seniors throughout King County. Going forward, these offerings will be a part of Kline Galland’s Benaroya Community Services, a designation created in honor of Rebecca and Jack Benaroya’s many years of service and generosity to the organization.

“Throughout her 44 years of service on Kline Galland’s Board of Directors, Rebecca has provided invaluable leadership and direction to the Kline Galland operations and facilities,” said Irene Fisher, Board Chair of Kline Galland. “Rebecca and her late husband Jack have been champions of Kline Galland and it is because of generous donors like them that we are able to offer an unprecedented level of dignified senior care, for now and for the generations to come.”

The need for expanded community services in collaboration with facility-based services has never played a more critical role. Over the last five years in Washington state, there have been at least 26 closures of Skilled Nursing Facilities. These closures are cause for concern, because in 2020, 14.6% of the population in King County was at least 65 years old. In 2030, the percentage of people over the age of 65 is estimated to rise to 18.3%. Add this to an AARP report showing that 77% of older adults want to remain in their home long term and the need for community-based services is even more imperative.

“At Kline Galland, our goal is to support people and deliver healthcare services in the way that seniors want, at the place they want, for as long as it is safe to do so,” said Jeff Cohen, CEO, Kline Galland. “Community-based services make homes safer and more functional for our seniors while rehab, therapies and interventions keep them healthier, for longer. Expanding these programs will allow seniors to age in place and provide relief to busy hospitals and skilled nursing facilities.”

As a senior-care health facility with more than a century of experience and a deeply engrained mission, Kline Galland has become a well-recognized resource for the community. Benaroya Community Services will provide customizable one-to-one health care for seniors living throughout the Puget Sound region, including home care, home health, hospice care, and palliative care.
