CIM Group Hosts INTERREALITY Public Art Exhibit at The Desmond

Featuring 35 artists currently on view at the Art Deco Landmark Office Building on Wilshire Boulevard in Los Angeles’ Miracle Mile

CIM Group is hosting a public art exhibition called INTERREALITY in 15,000 square feet of space in its The Desmond office building, a recently refurbished Art Deco office building located at 5500 Wilshire Boulevard in the Miracle Mile district of Los Angeles.

Bringing art to The Desmond is a natural fit with its surroundings that include cultural attractions such as the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures, and the Peterson Automotive Museum. For visitors to the exhibit planning an outing, it also is convenient to several dining and shopping options, including the popular La Brea retail corridor, The Grove, The Original Farmers Market, and the Beverly Center, and is a short walk to numerous cafes and restaurants.

INTERREALITY bridges the traditional and digital art worlds through the presentation of works that span the physical-to-digital spectrum with an expansive 35 artist group exhibition. The exhibit includes renowned digital artists such as pioneering artificial intelligence artist Refik Anadol and established traditional artists such as Mark Flood (whose paintings respond to internet culture and whose work is in the collection of MOMA Fort Worth). The exhibition also features work by artists whose practices are heavily analog, such as Cindy Phenix, and primarily digital, such as Alida Sun in order to capture the entire physical-to-digital spectrum.

INTERREALITY is curated by artist and former Night Gallery co-owner Mieke Marple, produced by Steven Sacks, founder and director of bitforms gallery, and Aubrie Wienholt, founder of PR for Artists.

The public is welcome to explore the exhibit Thursday – Saturday, 12:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. now through November 25, 2023. Appointments also available. For more information, contact info@interreality.art.

The Desmond – 1920s era architectural gem and modern office building

The Desmond is an 11-story, approximately 69,000-square-foot office and retail building in the Miracle Mile district of Los Angeles. The building offers approximately 28,000 square feet of ground floor and mezzanine retail space, approximately 41,000 square feet of office space on the upper floors. The Art Deco building was originally built in 1928 for the upscale Desmond’s and Silverwoods department stores. Desmond’s was the first major clothing retailer on the Miracle Mile when it opened in 1929, with the upper floors of the tower occupied by doctors and professionals.

Designed by prominent architect Gilbert Stanley Underwood, the building was designated more than 30 years ago as a Historic-Cultural monument. The Desmond is a striking example of Art Deco architecture and features terrazzo floors, an ornate stone lobby and handcrafted gold-painted leaf ceilings.

The newly renovated building presents a variety of options tailored to modern office users, such as 1,500-square-foot boutique floors in the tower to an expansive 24,000-square-foot large floorplate with high ceilings, exposed bow trusses and an array of historical details thoughtfully preserved throughout all floors that distinguish the space.
