Each year, this esteemed award recognizes high-achieving women in the science, technology, engineering or mathematics (STEM) fields for their outstanding contributions, excellence in leadership and commitment to mentorship. Along with their professional achievements, recipients are also focused on blazing the trail for other women who are pursuing successful careers in STEM. DeCarlo was recognized for her leadership acumen, commitment to transforming the way IT delivers business value through practices that promote customer-centricity and solutions that leverage technology, and passion for championing and mentoring women in technology.

“Michelle is an incredibly optimistic leader and an exceptional role model for future women in IT,” said Ken Solon, executive vice president, chief information officer and head of IT, Digital and Enterprise Services at Lincoln Financial Group. “She inspires our IT employees every day, encouraging them to think and act boldly to problem solve, drive innovation and challenge the status quo as they develop themselves, their professional relationships and build successful and fulfilling careers.”

DeCarlo was promoted to her current role in October 2021 and has more than 25 years of experience in IT development, quality engineering and Agile and DevOps, and held leadership positions at JPMorgan Chase and Capital One prior to joining Lincoln Financial in June of 2016. She is a graduate of Temple University’s Fox School of Business and Management and holds a Bachelor of Business Administration in marketing management and a Master of Business Administration.

Profiles in Diversity Journal’s annual Women Worth Watching in STEM issue celebrates the achievements and personalities of 104 women nominated by their colleagues, peers and mentors. This year’s honorees join more than 2,000 previous award recipients as outstanding examples of leaders who demonstrate talent, courage, persistence, commitment and generosity of spirit. This is the ninth time in the past nine years that a Lincoln executive has been recognized by Profiles in Diversity Journal in various forms.
