CINCINNATI, OH / ACCESSWIRE / June 7, 2023 / The Jared Kamrass Scholarship for Public Service is pleased to announce its inaugural launch, offering a one-time award of $1,000 to support a deserving undergraduate or graduate student in the United States who is dedicated to public service and determined to create a positive impact within their community.
Jared Kamrass, Principal with Technicolor Political, is the driving force behind this scholarship initiative. As a seasoned political advisor and advocate for progressive causes, Jared has witnessed the transformative power of public service firsthand. His passion for politics was ignited during his youth while watching "The West Wing" with his father and brother, and further fueled by witnessing the inspiring 2004 DNC Convention Speech delivered by Barack Obama in Boston.
Having experienced a personal battle with Hodgkin's Lymphoma during college, Jared's focus shifted towards healthcare reform. He recognized the critical connection between health outcomes and economic circumstances, motivating him to dedicate himself to electing policymakers committed to ending these inequities.
After graduating from Ohio State University, Jared Kamrass returned to his hometown of Cincinnati and managed local campaigns before establishing Rivertown Strategies in 2013. Over the following eight years, Rivertown Strategies flourished into one of the premier full-service Democratic consulting firms in the Midwest. Their influence extended to several states, including Ohio, Pennsylvania, Kentucky, Tennessee, Louisiana, Oregon, and Florida, providing strategic guidance to candidate campaigns and independent expenditure committees.
In the tumultuous 2020 cycle, Jared served as a Senior Advisor to the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee, lending his expertise to candidates and staff in highly contested districts during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic and the simultaneous presidential campaign. The DCCC's efforts were instrumental in preserving a Democratic majority.
Following the election, Jared joined Technicolor Political as a Principal, assuming responsibilities as the ad maker and media consultant for a diverse array of clients, including national committees, gubernatorial candidates, members of Congress, and candidates for other statewide and local offices. Technicolor Political, the largest majority Black-owned firm in the Democratic party, focuses on creating and placing content that breaks the mold of traditional political advertising, captivating the attention of voters who engage with multiple screens simultaneously.
To apply for the Jared Kamrass Scholarship for Public Service, current undergraduate or graduate students in the United States must embody a deep commitment to public service and possess a burning desire to effect positive change within their communities. Applicants are required to submit a creative essay of fewer than 1000 words, responding to the question:
"What inspired you to pursue a career in public service, and how do you plan to use your education and skills to make a positive impact in your community and society at large?"
The deadline to submit applications is December 15, 2023. The winner of the scholarship will be announced on January 15, 2024.
