Los Angeles, CA - April 11, 2025 - Hailey Hermida’s new single, "SBS" calls out emotional manipulation and serves as a wake-up call to those confused about their relationship dynamic. This dark pop-rock song is for anyone who’s ever felt themselves shrinking, second-guessing, or sidelining their own needs to keep someone else from falling apart.
Channeling her emotional rage, "SBS” is about being so sick of guys playing into this role of feeling bad for themselves and trying to drag you down in the process,” Hailey shares. “Sometimes people are manipulated and they don’t even realize it because it’s hidden so well with the ‘feel bad for me’ act.”
Hailey delivers powerful yet emotional vocals over dynamic emo-rock instruments. Drawing inspiration from Paramore with heavy driving guitar and dynamic drums, along with electronic synth textures influenced by Billie Eilish and Radiohead.
Lyrically tapping into the heavy emotional toll of always being the one who has to hold it together, Hailey aims to be an outlet for those who’ve second guessed their instincts to walk away from toxic relationships. This song isn’t about blame, it’s about reclaiming emotional independence and learning when to step away.
She continues, “I hope this will open people’s eyes and let them be aware that they don’t have to put their own needs aside. No matter how bad you may feel for someone. Going through a lot as a person is not an excuse to be a bad person.”
Produced by Riley Urick and co-written with Onique Williams, “SBS” drops April 10. The cinematic music video, directed by Julian Valdivieso and produced by Print Night Productions, follows on April 24th.
This song doesn’t just call something out. It helps you recognize it. And once you do, it’s hard to unsee.
