State below in reasonable detail why Forms 10-K, 20-F, 11-K 10-Q, 10-D, N-SAR, N-CSR, or the transition report or portion thereof, could not be filed within the prescribed time period.

     Connecticut Water Service, Inc. is unable, without unreasonable effort or expense, to file the annual report on Form 11-K for the Savings Plan of The Connecticut Water Company, by June 30, 2008 because the audited financial statements of the Savings Plan for the fiscal year ended December 31, 2007 have not yet been completed due to the delay in receipt of necessary information regarding the Savings Plan from a third party service provider.
