CVRD Clarifies News Published in the Press
Rio de Janeiro, September 23 Companhia Vale do Rio Doce (CVRD) clarifies the news published in the press with respect to an investment in a new iron ore mine in the Southern Range, in the Carajás Mineral Province, State of Pará, Brazil.
The Company has been conducting studies with the aim to develop the additional production capacity of the Southern Range to the extent that this is required by the evolution of future global demand for iron ore. However, such project has not been submitted to the approval of the Companys Executive Directors or Board of Directors.
Currently, CVRD is investing approximately US$ 800 million in projects to increase its iron ore production capacity in order to meet the demand forecasted for the next five years.
